The overhang of the butcherblock countertop north of the cabinets shall be reinforced by south-north strips of galvanized-iron U-channel or half-pipe epoxied into grooves in the underside of that slab that end 2 inches from the S and N edges.  The NW corner of the slab is supported by a metal bracket fastened to the wall oven tower.

The slab is also screwed from below to the stretchers in the top of the cabinets,
and the cabinets are screwed to each other and to the oven tower.  The slab overhang on the east side is supported only by the strength of the EW wood strips that compose this slab.

The narrow door front between the two drawer cabinets is a roll-out drawer cart for storing cookie sheets.
